Starbucks out of OB

five-plus years have passed since starbucks opened their location on newport avenue in the old java joe's building. this was fairly controversial at the time as ocean beach has a tradition of opposing chain stores. there looked to be significant protests set to occur, and then 9/11 happened. so now the place has been open for awhile and seems to be quite busy. i imagine new residents aren't aware of the history. i still won't set foot in there. not sure what's going on with OBGO -- their website is gone....
